Drew Barrymore got vulnerable about her past in her latest Instagram post, which was a heartfelt note about her childhood and perspective as a parent. In the upload captioned “Phone Home,” she recalled growing up with little to no restrictions, which led to making decisions she later regretted.

In summary, Drew is taking lessons from her upbringing to become a better guardian and enjoining other parents to watch their kids’ access to technology and social media. She named posing for Playboy before turning 20 as one of her many mistakes, which still haunts her.

Drew Barrymore had to learn to be an adult at a very young age

Unlike most people, Drew began living in her own apartment at 14 with no one to caution or guide her. This opened her up to vices and reckless behaviour, and even at that, she found it difficult to access pornography. These days, sensitive media is available at their fingertips, and this brings much concern to Drew for the younger generation.

Parents react to Drew’s candid post

Drew expressed her desire to create a coalition aimed at creating boundaries against the dangers of technology on children. She disclosed her steps toward achieving this which include research and looking into dumb phones which are specially curated to be child-friendly and free of worrisome content.

The TV personality received commendation and support for her musings, as fans—especially mothers—flocked to the comments to share similar sentiments. “Here! Here! I have been banging on about this for ages & tried to have discussions with my son’s school about how damaging the effects have been,” someone wrote. “This is a POWERFUL statement and I would hope gets read and absorbed widely,” another added.
