Barry Manilow Seen With Hearing Aid After Canceling London Farewell Show

Fans felt disappointed after Barry Manilow canceled his May 27 show in London based on doctor’s orders. Thankfully, Barry made it up to them by rescheduling for June 9 before rounding off with his final concert the same day. The singer-songwriter was seen wearing a hearing aid as he exited the London Palladium on Tuesday night.

Barry looked cheerful as he made for his car in a denim shirt and black trousers, plus another jacket over his outfit for warmth. He held a vape in one hand and gestured nicely at the flashing cameras before taking off to his lodge.

Barry has had a series of health challenges over the years, including bronchial pneumonia, a mouth tumor, heart issues, and surgery, but these never stopped him from doing what he loves best and wowing crowds around the world. The pop singer lives an energy-demanding lifestyle and claims to get only four hours of sleep per day.

Barry blames his hyperactive lifestyle on his New York background, which involved a lot of moving around and being on the go. Hopefully, the 80-year-old singer slows down a bit based on his physician’s instructions, as against his resolve to do more in his 80s. Barry noted ahead of his birthday that he was just getting started and has no plans to retire.

It all started in the ‘60s when Barry worked for CBS director Bro Herrod, who used his musical score in the off-Broadway musical, The Drunkard. Barry also worked as a commercial jingle writer and singer at the time, and by 1969, he was signed by Tony Orlando who collaborated with Barry and more musicians via Featherbed.

Barry’s career has continued to peak, with him earning recognitions along the way, including a recent report of him beating Elvis Presley’s record for the longest-running residency in Las Vegas. He sold his catalog in 2020 and is now doing a final full concert in the UK after which he will release an album of 12 pop tracks later this year. Barry, who is known for hits like Could It Be Magic, and Copacabana (At the Copa), is also working on his Broadway musical Harmony, featuring an original cast album.
