Christie Brinkley teased her Instagram followers with a sultry photo of her during last-minute wardrobe touch-ups, and her daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, had to ask, “What’s happening here?” Brinkley raised the bottom of her outfit and showed off the side of her bum while she let out a big laugh.
This behind-the-scenes photo followed her appearance on Today, and the hands-on stylists focused extra on fixing the stitches behind the short black dress. She thanked Mitch Barry for helping, adding that she picked up a large size instead of a medium.
Brinkley’s fans had mixed feelings about the post, although most appeared to take it with a sense of humor. “So much happiness and fun!!” someone gushed. “Wow Christie That’s Beautiful I Love It Looks Fantastic Congratulations Christie,” another added. Similar to Alexa’s reaction, a third user asked, “What is the reason for showing this thing?”
Brinkley appeared on the Today show to discuss her modeling career as a Sports Illustrated favorite and her recent skin cancer diagnosis, which her doctor has handled. A follower commended Brinkley’s “excellent, vivacious, spirited side” on the show, adding that her “best gift is you make all feel important!!”
Brinkley discussed turning 70 in February, noting that it is “very similar to 50.” Rather than the “big blowout” she initially planned, Brinkley celebrated in Turks and Caicos with her last two children, Jack and Sailor. Just a month after her birthday vacation, the cover girl announced via Instagram that she underwent surgery to treat skin cancer, complete with a photo of her in bed with bandages on her forehead.
Thankfully, her doctor was able to detect the basal cell Carcinoma and “removed the cancer and stitched me up to perfection like an haute couture Dior.” She ended her lengthy caption by advising her followers to “slather up” on sunscreen and “make your own good luck by making that check up appointment today.”
