This 1916 Home In Oakland, CA Looks Right Out Of A Disney Movie

A storybook-style home that looks like something from a fairytale is currently on the market in Oakland, California. The 1916 Disney movie-esque house is making waves on the internet for its dreamy appearance and cottage-core ambience, which seems to be making a comeback with the trad-wife trend.

All that is left to make a typical folk tale in this house is a king and queen, fairies, a frog that would eventually turn into a prince, some talking mice, or a few friendly dwarves. It is located at 106 Glenwood Glade and features sloping roofs, turrets atop them, and wood paneling on nearly all of the structure.

Going past the front door, the well-crafted stone fireplace, a large arched glass window, and the wide seating area catch the eye. To the right is the second living room, which leads to the master bedroom and bathroom equipped with a large open shower and old-fashioned maroon tiling. The second bedroom is followed by the laundry room and magnificent backyard, which is sure to make jaws drop.

The basement features arched walkways, a kitchen with blue tiles, butcher block counters, a stainless steel fridge, redwood cabinets, and fir flooring. This home style shows a full version of European countryside homes, which spread to America in the 1920s thanks to Hollywood movies.

A video of the house made it to TikTok thanks to a user named rolandosage. “This home had to have inspired multiple Disney/Pixar movies,” his caption read. The outside of the building also leads through the kitchen, welcoming you to a garden of relaxing greenery, ornamental plants, trees, and large stones placed nearly everywhere.

The backyard also has an outdoor latrine and a footbridge across the Temescal Creek. TikTok users could not help but gush over the Storybook home in the comments and thanked the poster for sharing. “I know this is more beautiful than we see here. Like a fairytale. Tinker Bell was there,” someone wrote. Some hoped the lucky buyer would maintain the structure as it is and not try to “modernize” it after purchase. “I love storybook houses, they are my favorite,” another exclaimed.
