Reba McEntire sitcom

NBC recently announced that Reba McEntire would play the lead in a new series, Happy’s Place, set for release 2024-2025. The country music star has starred in previous shows like Reba and Malibu Country and will be back again on set for more comical delight.

This comes after Reba premiered her newest single, “I Can’t” on NBC’s The Voice, where she also works as a celebrity voice coach. Aside from music, Reba has made her mark on prime-time TV with recurring appearances on Young Sheldon, Big Sky, and Reba McEntire’s The Hammer.

Reba will star alongside Melissa Peterman, Belissa Escobedo, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Reba’s partner Rex Linn as Bobbie. Belissa plays Bobbie’s half-sister, who suddenly shows up and joins her in running their late father’s restaurant. The upcoming sitcom also features some crew members from the set of the discontinued Reba; however, neither is connected to the other.

Happy’s Place was confirmed to kick off shortly after Reba told Entertainment Tonight’s Ash Crossan that the pilot was done, and she has her “fingers crossed” for the series. “We had such a good time doing the pilot— we can’t wait to go back,” she said, noting that the same “wonderful, wonderful cast and crew” of the short-lived Malibu Country, including her boyfriend, Rex Linn, worked hard to make a comeback.

Although Reba was discontinued due to Warner Bros’ merger with UPN to form The CW, it was a well-recognized show that amassed more fans for Reba beyond her country singing career. The Hollywood Reporter called her a “proven star and TV draw” who has helped broadcast networks and streaming platforms “break through a crowded landscape” and “travel globally.”

She recalled the show being popular in “the Pacific Rim, Australia, England, and a lot of places in Europe,” spurring her to tour those areas as well. While fans await the new series and hope for its longevity, Reba is coaching her three team members on The Voice to make it to the finals. She is impressed by her candidates’ choice of emotional songs, which she says will touch the heart of the audience.
