Michael Douglas‘ remarkable career commenced in the late 1960s with appearances in a variety of television shows and films. His breakthrough came with his portrayal of Inspector Steve Keller in the acclaimed ’70s TV series The Streets of San Francisco. However, it was his iconic performance as the ruthless corporate raider Gordon Gekko in the 1987 film Wall Street that propelled him to superstardom, earning him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Beyond his professional achievements, Douglas is also a devoted father to his three children, Cameron, from his first marriage to actress Diandra Luker, and Dylan and Carys, from his union with Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000. In a recent interview, the 79-year-old actor reminisced on the challenges and joys of embracing fatherhood later in life, shedding light on the unique experiences and insights that come with the journey.

The 79-year-old expressed that as his children have grown into adults, he finds it challenging to match their pace in everyday activities.  “I’m just sliding by just now. I’ve reached the point in terms of skiing and a couple of other activities that I’m no longer able to keep up with them on any basis,” Douglas admitted.”But it’s nice having somebody look after you and say, ‘You okay dad?’”

Douglas also conveyed his heartfelt appreciation towards his wife and children, acknowledging them as his source of joy. “I have to thank my kids, Dylan and Carys. They’re just extraordinary beings. I probably certainly have to thank their mum and Catherine. They’ve just been a joy. We’ve had no issues per se. Had a lovely, lovely life together. Dylan is completely out of school now, and Carys has got one more year of college,” he confessed. “But they brought both Catherine and I just a tremendous amount of joy.”
