During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Michael Douglas made a shocking revelation about his costume on the new biological drama miniseries Franklin, which is based on the US’ founding father Benjamin Franklin.
The 79-year-old, who looked like his character with long hair, claimed all those locs were actually his after show host Kelly Clarkson asked. “Yes, it was predominantly my hair,” he revealed. “I was a hippie you know. Yeah, it was my hair length we added a little bit at the back.”
Franklin is based on Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff’s A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America, which narrates how Franklin journeyed secretly to France on a democratic mission. “In December 1776, Franklin is world famous for his electrical experiments, but his passion and power are put to the test when— as the fate of American independence hangs in the balance,” the synopsis read.
“By virtue of his fame, charisma, and ingenuity, Franklin outmaneuvered British spies, French informers and hostile colleagues to engineer the Franco-American alliance of 1778 and the peace treaty with England in 1783,” the synopsis reads further.
Michael, who turns 80 in September has hardly shown signs of slowing down, which makes fans wonder if he considers retiring soon. The actor previously stated that he now enjoys his work more than ever, and has grown into his career over time. “I was not an actor growing up, I had a lot of stage fright early in my career. I’m enjoying myself now more than I have,” he told PA some years back.
Per aging, the Oscar winner says work keeps him going, and he feels “just so blessed that we’re in a business where there’s a demand for people our age.” “I guess have something you like to do…You have to have something you like to do,” he advised, adding that he looks at his nearly six-decade career with pride. “I mean, not necessarily grand slam, home runs but I got a lot of hits.”
