83-Year-Old Faye Dunaway Makes Rare Appearance On Cannes Film Festival Red Carpet

Mommie Dearest star Faye Dunaway graced the 77th Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga wearing a black pantsuit over a white shirt on the red carpet. Joining Faye was her son Liam Dunaway O’Neill and his beau McKinzie Roth who dazzled in a bejeweled white dress.

Faye’s appearance at the event is inarguably a rare one as the actress has been away from the spotlight for years. Her coming out of the shadows is for the upcoming premiere of her first feature documentary, Faye, which gives insight into her life, career, and regrets.

According to the festival’s website, Faye exposes the “triumphs and challenges of Faye’s illustrious career” and explores her mental health issues, including her battle with bipolar disorder and episodes of manic depression. Interviews with her son Liam and industry colleagues Sharon Stone, Mickey Rourke, and James Gray will also feature in the much-anticipated release.

The Laurent Bouzereau-directed film will be available for streaming on HBO and Max later this year, following its debut at the ongoing Cannes Festival. Faye promises to “courageously explore personal discoveries, her family history growing up in a small town in Florida, and how the intensity of the characters she played still impacts who she is today.”

The Bonnie And Clyde alum has been one to spark controversy in the acting industry; however, she owns up to her reputation and is not looking “to make an excuse about it.” Faye, who her co-actress Bette Davis called “impossible” and “uncooperative” to work with, got to the root of her behavior and chose to work her way out.

The 83-year-old opened up about her bipolar disorder diagnosis, which greatly contributed to her more reclusive lifestyle in the past years. She also expressed her gratitude for medication, studies, and doctors who have helped manage her condition.
