Al Pacino Spotted Looking ‘Downcast’ While Out And About Ahead Of 84th Birthday

Al Pacino was spotted in Los Angeles recently as he took a solo stroll in a navy overcoat, black slacks, and sporty shades. Although he was well-dressed, the Godfather actor seemed downcast during his afternoon walk, which comes days to his 84th birthday.

For his last birthday, the father of four threw a dinner party where he gave a quick acting masterclass by pretending to choke on his drink and cause a stir. He then proclaimed that “acting is first,” after which he thanked his family, friends, and well-wishers for celebrating with him.

Al Pacino, born Alfredo James Pacino began acting at 19 and focused on off-Broadway productions until his fame rose in the ‘70s with hits like The Godfather series, Scarecrow, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, and Bobby Deerfield. The award-winning screen icon is also known for productions like Scent of a Woman, Scarface, Ocean’s Thirteen, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and many more.

While at 92nd Street Y in New York City last year, Al Pacino reflected on his career, noting that he gave up the Star Wars gig that “gave Harrison Ford a career.” “They gave me a script called ‘Star Wars.’ They offered me so much money. I don’t understand it, so I said I couldn’t do it,” he recalled. He also echoes some advice from his teacher at the Actors Studio, Lee Strasberg, saying “Talent is like a cement block that you walk on the sidewalk, and there’s a green blade of grass peeking up through the cracks.”

Al Pacino’s thoughts on retiring

As he approaches his mid-80s, it is only appropriate to wonder if Al Pacino has considered retirement, however, the Oscar winner has no intentions of slowing down yet. Last year, he revealed he’s got movies lined up for 2024, including an adaptation of King Lear. “I’m always retired. I retired when I was 25. I mean, who cares? Please don’t call it retired,” he joked.

He also previously expressed his newfound interest in underwhelming projects in a bid to “make this better.” “That’s become my challenge. I don’t think I go in thinking it’s not going to be very good, but…sometimes they offer you money to do something that’s not adequate. And you talk yourself into it,” he admitted, noting that he “gets excited by that.”
