For this reason, Selleck asserts, “It is really the story of an accidental career. I’d never taken an acting class. I had no training, no desire.”

Selleck hasn’t qualified as a gameshow bachelor for 37 years now, following his marriage to beloved wife Jillie Mack in 1987. The two met four years prior, while she was performing in a London production of Cats.

For how recognizable he is on-screen, Selleck generally lives a private life, editing episodes of the Blue Bloods script with Jillie at his side, and ending the day quietly with “a cigar and a glass of whiskey.”
