Salma Hayek recently enjoyed some family time on a vacation getaway, and she was sure to share highlights with her followers. The actress took to Instagram to share a photo of herself in a patterned blue bikini as she tried to step out of the ocean-blue water. From her caption, and the picture quality, it seems she didn’t get a perfect shot as she appeared to be shielding herself from splashing water.

“When your family won’t let you take a bikini ріс in peace,” her caption reads. Regardless of the chaotic shot, Hayek looked as gorgeous as ever in her two-piece swimsuit, which she accessorized with a layered necklace, and her lush wet hair let down. Her skin glowed in the natural lighting, and her makeup-free face appeared youthful and wrinkle-free.

“Well, whoever took those epic pictures is winning life. A blind person could take an incredible picture of you doing anything in any outfit and it would break the internet. You’re an icon, Salma,” a user gushed. Hayek, who is fond of posting swimsuit photos also gushed about her love for the color blue days back, as she sported a blue bikini and had blue shades on. “It’s okay to be blue,” she wrote. A marveled follower responded to the snap saying she was “a woman who doesn’t age.” “It’s like bathing and water rejuvenates her… will she have the fountain of eternity?” they asked.

What made Salma Hayek famous?

Hayek began her career at 23 as a Mexican actress in telenovelas like Teresa and the ‘90s romantic drama Midaq Alley. She also appeared in the record-breaking film, El Callejón de los Milagros, which arguably holds the most awards in Mexican history. In the mid-90s, she set her sights on Hollywood, starring in productions like Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Wild Wild West, and Dogma. Her breakthrough act came in 2002 when she played painter Frida Kahlo in the biopic Frida, which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, and the first Mexican actress to achieve such a feat.

“I’m very proud because I practically did it by myself against all odds when I was not very famous. It was a movie that nobody wanted to do,” she once said. Hayek reportedly worked hard to play Frida, during a time when her kind was sidelined, and white actresses like Meryl Streep and Jessica Lange were being considered instead. The mother of one secured access to Frida’s paintings by approaching the administrator for the rights of Frida and her husband Diego Rivera’s art, Dolores Olmedo Patino. She also negotiated with Harvey Weinstein and Miramax to assume the film’s rights from TriMark studios and asked Alfred Molina to play Rivera during his 1998 Broadway play Art.

Hayek’s hard work on Frida, which involved attending to creative decisions and even learning to paint, eventually paid off as it imprinted her name in the Hollywood industry. “I had a very specific take on it visually, and how I wanted the structure and the movie to be,” she told Yahoo! Entertainment in 2017.” I didn’t want it to be like a typical biopic. I wanted to have a different kind of artistic value visually, because she was an artist. And it was so hard to get it done because it was unusual, and she was unusual and nobody knew who she was.”

Before Frida, Hayek had received Glamour Magazine‘s Woman of the Year Award, and she went on to snag Time Magazine‘s 25 Most Influential Hispanics Award in 2005. She also starred in and produced action-packed works like Once Upon a Time in Mexico, After the Sunset, and Bandidas as well as comedies such as The Grown Ups series, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and as a voice actor in 2016’s Sausage Party. The accomplished entertainer, who got her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2021, earned two Primetime nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and another for Outstanding Comedy Series, for ABC’s television comedy-drama Ugly Betty. She also won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Children’s Special for 2004’s The Maldonado Miracle.

How many biological kids does Salma Hayek have?

Hayek became a mother to Valentina Paloma Pinault in 2007, just a few weeks after her 41st birthday. On Valentine’s Day in 2009, Hayek and Valentina’s father and French businessman François-Henri Pinault tied the knot at the 6th Arrondissement City Hall in Paris, and their barely two-year-old daughter was their flower girl. “I only have one daughter and that has been the most incredible experience I have had in my life and I have done a lot,” Hayek said of her motherhood experience shortly after birthing Valentina. “I am sure that there are plenty of women that say ‘God, what a marvelous life, she can do this or that.’ But, there is nothing that I have done that is more incredible than to have a child.”

Hayek has often been vulnerable about raising her first child in her 40s and had to take a hiatus from acting to raise her. “I had my child so late in life. I thought I wasn’t going to be able to and it was such an important thing to me,” she told PEOPLE in 2015, adding that her return to work was for her baby’s sake, too. “It’s important that your kids understand that they are the most important thing but it’s not all about them. You set an example that you are also your own person and you have to continue to grow in the field that you are working in.”

During Valentina’s 16th birthday last year, the proud mom took to Instagram with a sweet tribute accompanying videos and photos showing the teenager’s growth over the years. “Today my baby turns 16 and my heart is bursting with love, pride, and gratitude for the day you were born. Keep shining your beautiful light shamelessly my lovely girl, even if it blinds the fools. For those of us fortunate enough to have you in our lives, thank you for making us stronger with your courage,” the proud mom wrote and thanked Valentina for “filling our lives with laughter and joy with your wicked wit. For challenging us to grow with your depth. And for inspiring us with your soulfulness every day.”

Hayek is also a dedicated stepmother to Pinault’s older children— François, Mathilde, and Augustin. “I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to,” she once admitted, noting that “the huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different.”
