Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen is set to onboard 14-year-old content creator William Mwungeri as a guest after the renowned chef gave a stamp of culinary approval on the teen’s beef Wellington via TikTok. The MasterChef Junior judge, who is known for his intense critique of food, was blown away by William’s mastery of one of his most famous dishes.

Ramsay dueted William’s social media clip, which captured how he prepared the meal from start to finish. “OK, show me what you got,” he said as he watched William do his thing like the other millions of viewers have.

Ramsay, who is famous for his outbursts on shows like Kitchen Nightmares, stared closely as William got to cooking. “Dude, you are handling this recipe with such confidence. Well done,” he quipped. He also gushed about William’s quick chopping skills, as well as his technique for preparing shallots and his good choice of fungi— chestnut mushrooms, which Ramsay deems “the best flavor for a Wellington.”

Ramsay also expressed his satisfaction at William’s decision to make a spinach crepe. “William, this is looking good,” he exclaimed. The budding chef followed up Ramsay’s reaction with another video currently at about 10 million views on Instagram. In it, he stands with two pieces of bread as a nod to Ramsay’s popular line of “idiot sandwich.”

Surprisingly, Ramsay was even more impressed and asked William to “check your DMs,” where an invite to set up dining with him at Hells Kitchen was waiting. “I guess I’m not an idiot sandwich,” William joked.

William told TODAY.COM that he had been cooking frequently since he turned 11, and used to make omelets for his family at 10. He also grew up watching Ramsay and has been a food content creator for only six months. “I hope to be as good as him one day,” he told the outlet, adding that he would love to compete on Masterchef Junior.

Per Ramsay’s reaction to his beef Wellington, William said “Seeing someone I admire acknowledge my work in such a positive way” was “an incredible moment” that left him “absolutely thrilled.” “Being noticed and acknowledged by someone as influential as Gordon Ramsay not only validates your talent and passion but also opens doors to amazing opportunities in the culinary world,” he added.
