The cast of Full House exemplifies the beauty of love and friendship, both on and off the screen, proving that the bonds forged during filming can last a lifetime. Through the years of working together, they’ve formed a tight-knit family, mirroring the close relationships portrayed on the show. From sharing laughs during rehearsals and celebrating milestones to offering a shoulder to lean on during tough times, their love and support for one another are unwavering.
Recently, Dave Coulier, the actor behind the mischievous character Joey Gladstone on the classic TV series, shared a heartfelt memory of his late costar and friend, Bob Saget, who passed away in January 2022 from head trauma at the age of 65.
In a recent installment of his podcast, Full House Rewind, he had Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, as a guest. Coulier then delved into heartfelt recollections of his time with Saget. As the episode drew to a close, the 64-year-old shared a touching voicemail left by Saget following the passing of his brother, Dan, in 2021. “When my brother, Danny, took his own life in 2021, Bob was the first person who called me and left a voicemail,” he explained. “It was an audio hug. I loved Bob, and he loved me too, and I like to close this episode by playing that voicemail message that Bob left for me. And maybe someday, you can pass along the same kind of compassion to someone you love.”
In the audio clip, the late actor, visibly emotional, offered heartfelt words to his colleague Coulier, encouraging him to reach out for support whenever needed. “I’m right here, 24/7, right now, right here. I love you, Dave. I’m so sorry, Dave. You loved him, I’m so sorry, so I’m here,” Saget said in the audio. “I’m here 24/7. Just call me anytime. Doesn’t have to be now, can be a week whenever I can just talk to you or listen. I love you so much.”
Coulier expressed gratitude towards Rizzo for consistently offering support and companionship to his friend. He acknowledged the 44-year-old’s presence and assistance during times of need, highlighting the importance of their relationship in providing comfort and solidarity.
“We were all so happy when you came into Bob’s life because he wasn’t a happy camper. He wasn’t, and you were the perfect person for him,” Coulier stated. “You were always the right amount of calm and composite to balance Bob’s frenetic pace. I probably haven’t said it enough, but thank you for being that presence in my friend’s life because it was so wonderful to be a part of that and to see my friend so happy, and you gave that to him, so thank you.”
