Sally Field’s 2024 Oscars Appearance Has Everybody Talking

Mrs. Doubtfire star Sally Field looked gorgeous at the 2024 Oscars in a white, flowy, long-sleeved gown and her hair in a short curly bob. She took to the stage with Jessica Lange, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michelle Yeoh to present the award for Best Actress In a Leading Role category which they all snagged in the past.

Sally embraced Poor Things actress Emma Stone after she was announced winner, and while the spotlight was on the moment, fans could not keep their eyes off Sally’s appearance and raved about it on social media. “Sally Field is still gorgeous,” a user noted, and many others agreed.

A thrilled viewer posted a GIF of Sally’s Oscar speech from 1985, where she won Best Leading Actress for her role in Places in the Heart, with the caption, “#sallyfield looking FABULOUS as always.” Fans also noticed Sally’s demeanor towards Emma, and they found it adorable. “Sally Field speaking to Emma Stone is like mother speaking to daughter,” someone noted.

Another said they would “be hysterical” if Sally said such kind things about them, referring to the icon’s words to Emma. “Sally Field, I’ve gotten to work with three times. We have the same birthday,” Emma recalled. “I just love her and what she was saying—all of those women I admire so much and look up to so much, so it was really special.”

Sally has been in the acting industry for over six decades and clearly has no plans to slow down soon. She started out as an extra in 1962’s Moon Pilot and starred in TV comedies like Gidget, The Flying Nun, and The Girl with Something Extra into the ‘70s. Over the years, she has earned several recognitions and awards, including two Academy wins among five nominations, multiple Emmy awards, and two Golden Globes.

After receiving her SAG Lifetime Achievement award last year, she reflected on her struggles and triumphs as a thriving entertainer in the industry. “I wasn’t trying to prove myself…The more complicated roles I can get to, the more pieces of myself I could find,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I grew up in a very working-class show business family, and what it taught me is, the world of show business is not glamorous. It’s not fun, it’s not easy.”
