Hollywood couple Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal, who first became romantically involved in 1979, had an enduring relationship marked by a brief separation in 1997. In 2001, the lovers reunited, and even though Ryan revealed that he had plans to legalize their marriage, he wasn’t able to do so despite Fawcett agreeing as she died after battling cancer in 2009.
After Fawcett‘s death, life never remained the same for Ryan, who died late last year due to congestive heart failure. Before his death, the actor wished to be buried alongside his soulmate and, thankfully, his family and friends made that happen. Also, Ryan’s name was recently added to Fawcett’s tombstone, and this development has sparked a lot of reactions from the late actress’ friends and fans.

In an interview with The Post, Craig Nevius, a close friend of Fawcett, who also served as the executive producer for the 2005 reality show Chasing Farrah and the 2009 documentary Farrah’s Story, expressed his discontent at the recent development.

The screenwriter felt the new development was against Fawcett’s wish. He explained that since her death, the large tombstone had remained notably blank, with no birthdate or date of death; only her name was inscribed at the top.
Nevius further explained that the recent inscription of O’Neal’s name on Fawcett’s tombstone was a pointer to how the Love Story actor manipulated the late actress all her life. “It was like he was the more important one, and in fact, the opposite is true,” he admitted. “It may have been a great love story at the beginning, and he could certainly be charming, but the monster always came out. This is all about him making the world think she belonged to him and that it was a love story like the movie.”
He also mentioned that the action was contrary to what Fawcett wanted, as she had expressed a desire for a private burial. “It’s a travesty, Farrah wanted to be cremated, first of all. She was very specific about that. She didn’t want to be a tourist attraction,” Nevius confessed to The Post. “She didn’t want to be buried and she didn’t want to be buried with Ryan. If she saw this, she’d pick up something heavy and throw it at Ryan.”
