Gwyneth Paltrow got her fans excited when she posted a rare photo of her 17-year-old son, Moses, whom she shares with her ex-husband Chris Martin. She did so per a follower’s request and accompanied it with the caption, “not fave but recent,” with two heart emojis.
Although she and Chris prefer to keep their kids out of the public eye, Gwyneth never misses a chance to celebrate them when necessary. On Moses’ 17th birthday, she posted an adorable selfie with a sweet note that read, “You are the most exceptional, kind, loving human being. You keep us all laughing with your perfect impressions, and you inspire us with your harmonies.”
On a 2021 episode of Shop TODAY With Jill Martin, the Goop founder revealed that her kids have never seen her in a movie. “I mean, I think my son has seen the Iron Man things, but I don’t think my daughter has ever seen me in a movie,” she admitted, adding that Moses’ older sister Apple “thinks it’s weird if I’m on screen.” “She says she likes me here,” Gwyneth quipped while pointing to her heart.
In Gwyneth’s words, she has “been so lucky with my teens,” who have grown to be very well-behaved. It is no surprise since she took a hiatus from acting to raise them in the early 2000s. “I kind of didn’t have the horrible teen thing, I think because I’ve always been very, very honest with my kids and I think I’ve always empowered them with a little bit more freedom and responsibility than they thought they were ready for,” she told PEOPLE.
The 51-year-old mother of two has been sacrificial as a mother, having taken a career break to focus on Apple and Moses. She is also an amazing stepmother to Isabella and Brody, who are from her husband’s previous marriage. “I decided, and fully embodied the idea that my step kids were my kids, and I love them just as much, and I gave them the same rules and boundaries, and just kind of whole-heartedly went for it,” she revealed last year.
Like their mom, Moses and Apple have taken to the spotlight quite well, with Moses expressing his love for music on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2020. “I’m really into music. … Right now, I’d say I’m playing guitar the most; it used to be piano for a while, and now I’m doing guitar lessons again,” he told the host. Back in 2016, Moses sang Twenty One Pilots’ “House of Gold” with his dad playing the acoustic guitar at a Boys & Girls Club fundraiser in Malibu.
