Martha Stewart Confesses To Not Wearing Underwear, But This One Thing Instead

In a recent interview, celebrity chef and hospitality guru Martha Stewart told Page Six that she would rather wear swimsuits than underwear. The eighty-two-year-old posed for Sports Illustrated last year and set the record as their oldest cover model yet. “I would have preferred if I could have worn a really skimpy bikini, but at my age, wearing what I was wearing was appropriate,” she said at the time.

Martha does not pass up an opportunity to get in a pool, so she always has a fitting piece under her outfit. “I like bathing suits. I like wearing bathing suits under my clothes just in case I want to go swimming. Bathing suits are my underwear,” she explained.

Although Martha told SKIMS founder and reality TV star Kim Kardashian that she loved her underwear brand years back, she has admitted that she does not actually wear them. “I don’t wear any of that structured stuff. No tight lace, no Skims for Martha. But I love Skims,” the mother of one said, also noting that “they serve a very good purpose.”

In 2021, Kim recalled her favorite interaction with Martha in New York: “It was just such a proud moment that Martha Stewart wanted SKIMS.” Years later, Martha thinks Kim has no problem with her recent revelation as she is simply being truthful. “I don’t wear those. I only wear Aerie bathing suits under my clothes,” Martha explained. “Is Kim Kardashian going to be mad at me? No, she won’t be mad at me. She knows I don’t wear Skims.”

Martha’s thoughts on fashion and aging

Martha has “dressed the same since I was 17,” so she does not think aging has affected her fashion choices so much. “I don’t think about age. I think people are more and more and more fabulous than they’ve ever been in their senior years, and I applaud every one of them,” she said at the 2023 Night of Stars Gala. “If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same.”

For the lifestyle influencer, growing older is about living gracefully and living to the absolute fullest. “I’m about trying new things and learning new things every single day. Staying fresh, being interesting and interested. Staying curious, staying busy, developing new friendships,” she added. In her 80s, she enjoys “good diet and good exercise and healthy skincare” and Pilates, which she started while preparing for her SI shoot.
