Kelly Osbourne and Sid Wilson welcomed their first baby together at the end of 2022, a boy they named Sidney. The road has since proved a bumpy one, not just because of health scares but also because of a struggle going on behind the scenes surrounding her son’s name, an issue that Kelly has since addressed in a big way.
Kelly and Slipknot band member Wilson began dating back in February 2022. She went on to announce her pregnancy in May of that year. Her mother, Sharon Osbourne, shared with social media that Kelly is keeping a degree of separation between Sidney and the public eye, but Kelly has gone on to be vocal in her objections to keeping her last name out of Sidney’s full name – and what a rift it caused between the couple.

Following Sidney’s birth, a debate ensued concerning Kelly’s son’s name. Initially, Wilson put his foot firmly down and wanted his surname only. The debate quickly turned heated.

“It’s the biggest fight my baby’s father and I have ever had, and probably ever will,” shared Kelly on a podcast. “It was over naming our son. I wanted our son to have both of our last names, and he wouldn’t let me, and we had a huge fight.”
She added, “I feel that I was forced into doing something I didn’t want to do. And I can never ever forgive him for that, but we can move on.”

Kelly and Wilson continued to have arguments surrounding the topic and even consulted a therapist. Gradually, progress was made.
“So right now, my son doesn’t have a double-barreled last name,” Kelly went on, “but after lots of eye-opening conversations and some couples therapy, he has seen the light, and we are going to legally change our son’s name to have both of our last names.”
With peace restored, Kelly is back to enjoying raising Sidney, who she calls “the best thing that ever happened to me.” She admits that there is an element of fear in motherhood, as she worries about making mistakes, which themselves are learning opportunities, “It’s just unfortunate that you have to do it with a baby.”
Online, fans feel it was unfortunate she had to seemingly ask permission from Wilson. “The fact that she said, ‘let me,’ irritates me,” one fan noted, “Kelly had a larger part in bringing that child into the world, so her last name deserves to be part of that partnership.” Another applauded her candor and willingness to go to couple’s therapy, a move most would not have made.
