Carol used to be a frail, somber-looking grandmother until she had a makeover done by professional makeup artist Christopher Hopkins a.k.a “the makeover guy.” She grew up in a traumatizing environment yet emerged stronger, wiser, and energetic, but something felt missing still.
Hopkins, who has a YouTube channel showing off his work and clients’ stories, shared Carol’s transformation process as well as her story via the series “The Power of Pretty Brand Makeovers,” which was formerly titled “The Makeover Guy Reveals.”
80-year-old Carol looked tired and sullen at the start of the episode, however, she trusted Hopkins to do a good job and was not disappointed. The video description, which reads, “After many years of taking care of others and working through her painful past, she’s ready to live life to the fullest and is hopeful for what is yet to come,” gives viewers a summary of what to expect.
Carol came out looking “stunning, unique, and playful” at the end after Hopkins did his magic on her. “One thing that always really bothered me was…I never felt special. It’s more than makeup, or a makeover, it’s a life change. It is fulfilling a dream,” she said with gratitude.
The clip received nearly 8 million views and tens of thousands of likes from viewers who were touched by Carol’s background and much-deserved transformation. “This is one of the best makeovers I’ve ever seen. Awesome!” someone wrote. “Wow. Just incredible. Every person you all take on are just amazing, resilient people. It takes a lot of work and incredible talent to do these makeovers,” another gushed about Hopkins.
A fan who was turning Carol’s age at the time was motivated to feel more beautiful again regardless of aging. “I’m 80 this year and had no idea I could look this good with help. This video was inspiring. Thank you,” she wrote. “You really did capture the lady but what a surprise ending and an 80 year old that looked younger than me! I am 73! It would definitely be a lifelong fulfilling dream come true. I am happy for that beautiful vivacious lady!” another added.
