A 'Wheel of Fortune' contestant cracked a surprising joke

The name of the game is the same but the faces and personalities have all been different. In over four decades of doing Wheel of Fortune, host Pat Sajak can still be left speechless. One such occasion happened in a recent episode when a contestant let a shocking comment leak out.
Meet Kate from Cincinnati. Something important to know about Kate, as she revealed at the start of Friday’s episode, is that she wrote her own one-woman comedy show. But in the end, she didn’t just tell Sajak and Vanna White about her comedy history; she displayed it with a shocking remark.
Kate found herself at the bonus round of Wheel of Fortune, confronted with filling in the blanks for a clue, “What are you doing?” As she chipped away at the puzzle, Kate was unable to land on quite the right answer. The correct answer was “Fixing a leak,” but Kate kept guessing phrases with the word “leaf” in it, much to Sajak’s dismay.
As a result, “raking a leaf” and “moving a leaf” took precedence over anything with “leak” in it, never mind fixing one. After ten seconds passed, Sajak told her the answer included the word “leak.” That’s when Kate fired back with, “I kept thinking of doing something else with leak but I didn’t think that was it.”
Sajak has been having quite a few emotional moments on the show lately thanks to contestants. Sometimes their determined answering style sends him to the floor in exaggerated dismay. This time, when Kate made her NSFW joke, he nodded along at first until the audience started laughing. More and more understood she was implying the phrase “taking a leak.”
Once it clicked for Sajak, his head whipped around to stare dead-eyed into the camera; he even ended up dropping his notes. As he recovered, he picked them up and said, “Excuse me, these get heavy sometimes.” In the end, Kate’s inability to solve the final clue meant she didn’t win the extra $40,000 but she still netted $48,000 for her previous victories, plus an invaluable reaction from Sajak. Well done!
