Budweiser’s Clydesdales Horses Making Nostalgic Return In Time For Super Bowl

by Dana Daly

Published January 31, 2024

The Clydesdale horses are stampeding back into the spotlight for the 2024 Budweiser Super Bowl commercial

The Super Bowl is a time of exhilarating competition, incredible athletic feats, good eats, and of course memorable ads. Set to make a much-anticipated return to the 2024 Super Bowl commercial rotation is an ad starring Budweiser and its majestic Clydesdale horses!

Clydesdale horses have been associated with Budweiser since 1933 when they were a gift celebrating the end of Prohibition. This horse-centric advertising campaign first found its way to the Super Bowl in 1983, but viewers were disappointed by their relative absence during last year’s big game. Now, fans are excited that this choice appears to be corrected.

Budweiser recently issued a press release announcing an impactful return of the beloved Clydesdale horses for this year’s Super Bowl commercial. The statement also promised “a timeless message of resilience, determination, and coming together over a beer. The spot is rooted in the scenes, storylines, and on-screen magic that shaped the brand’s legacy as one of the top advertisers of all time.”

“The Super Bowl is advertising’s biggest moment, and our goal is to once again captivate our audience when the world is watching,” said Kyle Norrington, Chief Commercial Officer, Anheuser-Busch. We’re showing up big time in this moment that matters for our beer drinkers and football fans across the country through unmatched creative storytelling, seamless trade integrations, record-breaking consumer sweeps, robust media plans, and on-the-ground activations.”

For the moment, Budweiser just gave a tease regarding what’s to come on the day of the big game in the form of a fifteen-second commercial. The clip shows the horses majestically strolling through the snow and the text “The Clydesdales Are Back” and “2.11.24.” The video description further promises, “See the full commercial during Super Bowl LVIII.”

If this was less than the “full” ad, then expectant viewers can expect even more majesty, which was already a big highlight of the teaser clip.

“The Budweiser Clydesdales will also play a pivotal role on the ground in Las Vegas,” a press release also shared, “delighting consumers and representing Anheuser-Busch and Budweiser’s longstanding heritage.”

Super Bowl LVIII kicks off on Sunday, February 11, at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium and will air on CBS. What commercial are you most excited for and what’s been your favorite game day ad ever?
