Ricky Schroder rose to fame as a child star during the ’80s after starring in his 1979 debut movie, The Champ, which earned him critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination, as well as his role in the show Silver Spoons. Despite his success in the entertainment industry, Schroder has not stopped using his platform to advocate and uphold societal values.
In recent years, the actor has been in the spotlight for actively engaging in various social and political causes. A noteworthy instance is his outspoken support for personal freedoms and opposition to COVID-19 restrictions. To further strengthen his commitment to promoting societal values and cause, the Golden Globe winner has taken a significant step by establishing a new foundation.

“At Reel American Heroes Foundation, we honor our nation by presenting films, documentaries, television series, public service announcements of courage; stories about our veterans, active soldiers, first responders, Gold Star families, as well as past and present heroic figures,” the website reads. “Our goal is to inspire, raise awareness, entertain, and educate.”
He says his foundation will put the spotlight on American heroes
Schroder described his foundation as a patriotic counterpart to PBS, highlighting its commitment to portraying the American narrative distinctively from how the media portrays it. “Here’s the plan. We’re going to build a sort of ‘Patriot PBS,’ an army of storytellers to counteract much of the negative program coming from Hollywood these days. Our money, our stories, our legacies,” the actor explained. “Folks, never has the need been greater for a constructive vision for our collective futures. Storytelling is at the root of our shared history. I know together we can build a foundation that will inspire the world through storytelling.”
To accomplish its goals, the Reel American Heroes Foundation plans to collaborate with a distinctive team of creatives boasting over 100 years of combined expertise in crafting, producing, and directing various forms of media, including films, documentaries, television series, and public service announcements (PSA’s).
