Gwyneth Paltrow showed up at the premiere of the Netflix series The Brothers Sun in a classy red dress with a plunging neckline. Paltrow shared a photo of herself with Michelle Yeoh at the event, showing off her gorgeous outfit, which she complemented with a matching belt and silver accessories.

Fans gushed about Paltrow’s style and youthful look in her fifties. The mother of two revealed that she struggles with aging like everyone else, but tries to look her best regardless. “I felt like 50 was a deepening into myself. And, apparently, that just keeps getting better,” she noted.

The Goop founder disclosed her plans for this year to People magazine at the event. “I mean, I think it would be: peace, understanding, rest, and more alcohol. Out would be abject righteousness, not wanting to understand other people’s points of view and really big shoulder pads,” she said, answering based on the viral in-and-out trend on social media.

She also posed with her husband, Brad Falchuk, who co-created the Netflix show with Byron Wu. For the event, Brad wore a tan corduroy suit with a white dress shirt and striped tie. The show creator also shared his experience working on the story alongside Asian creatives. “There were a lot of times where I didn’t talk. I just listened. Other times, I’m there to push and do the normal showrunner things,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m always honored to be invited into these spaces, but I don’t worry about being able to know my place there.”

Expectations for Hollywood’s aging women

Paltrow is among many celebrities who have embraced aging and spoken against unrealistic physical standards for female celebrities. “I think it’s culture’s problem. As women, we want to be healthy, we want to be aging,” she explained. “This idea that we’re supposed to be frozen in time is so weird.”

Paltrow believes men are less conscious about getting older, because society cuts them slack. “It’s handsome to go gray as a man, but for women, it’s like, ‘What do you plan to do about your wrinkles and your aging skin?’ There’s definitely a double standard,” she noted. “Everybody should be empowered to do it how they want to.”
