Jane Fonda Supports Kathy Griffin In New Photo As She Navigates Divorce From Randy Bick

Shortly after the news of Kathy Griffin’s split from Randy Bick broke, the actress took to social media to acknowledge her friend, Jane Fonda, for her support. “Me: Fonda, it’s Griffin. My heart is broken. I can’t eat. I can’t sleep. @Janefonda: Come on over kid. I’ll feed you and I’ll listen to you,” Kathy wrote, detailing their conversations.

Both ladies were all smiles as they shared a side hug in the photo while seated at the kitchen counter. Kathy filed for divorce from Bick a few days before Christmas and before their fourth wedding anniversary. According to Page Six, court documents reveal reasons for the separation to be irreconcilable differences.

Why did Kathy leave her marriage?

Although she has yet to get into the details, Kathy is clearly saddened by the end of her marriage as she shares her thoughts. “Well…s—t. This sucks,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. She also requested that the court implement their prenuptial agreement to absolve her of potential financial responsibility to the other party.

The Fashion Police alum and her now ex-husband tied the knot on December 23, 2019, although Kathy wanted it to be on New Year’s Eve at the time as a “great start to 2020.” The ex-lovers began dating in 2011 and broke up seven years later until their romance rekindled in April 2019. Bick was by Kathy’s side through her cancer diagnosis in 2021, which led to the partial removal of one of her lungs.

A shoulder to lean on

Kathy is certain that her “girlfriends are going to get me through this,” per her recent Instagram post. The 63-year-old has found solace in Jane, who has proven to know the value of female friendships which she discussed in her TED Talk with Lily Tomlin. “I don’t know what I would do without my women friends. They make me stronger, they make me smarter, they make me braver,” she said at the time.

Jane and Kathy first met at the 2007 celebration of Larry King’s fifty years in broadcasting and have remained pals ever since, attending events like the 2012 pre-Grammy gala and the Los Angeles LGBT Center concert in 2019.

Kathy recalled one piece of Jane’s advice to her in an interview on an episode of Larry King Now. “Whenever you’ve been through something that really rocks your world, don’t do anything for a year,” Kathy gushed at the time. “Don’t buy a house, don’t sell a house, don’t move cross-country, don’t get married and she was right.”
