Cher And Cyndi Lauper Just Put Out A New Song Together — Listen Here

’80s pop fans are happy to see Cher and Cyndi Lauper team up on their latest holiday release. During an interview with Paper to promote their duet, “Put a Little Holiday in Your Heart,” Cher shared insights on what inspired the song, while Lauper got candid about her perception of Cher.

“All of a sudden, the Christmas album came up again,” Cher explained of the collection named after the holiday, which was released in October. “I mean, it’d been coming up my whole life, and I’d always been going, ‘Yeah, no,’ and somehow this was different. When I started, I was totally into it. I called Cyndi first, and then I called Stevie [Wonder] and then Darlene [Love].”

The duet is a cover of country singer LeAnn Rimes’s song, which appeared on her compilation, God Bless America. Cher’s Christmas includes other songs such as Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” and Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run.”

The singers gave a superb delivery of their lyrics in “Put a Little Holiday in Your Heart.” Despite having different voice tones, they rehearsed well and released a masterpiece. The song’s intro was a ballad before it transitioned to a more upbeat rhythm.

Lauper looks up to Cher

Cyndi Lauper, who surprised Cher with a cover of her biggest hit, “If I Could Turn Back Time” in 2018, shared in an interview with The Denver Post in 2014 that she has been a big fan of Cher for a long time.

The Sonny & Cher Show was one of my favorite TV shows of all time,” Lauper said. “I mean, the outfits, the hair. Cher is so talented. She is a great actor. She is a comedian with amazing timing, and she is a great singer. I admired her so much. She inspired me, and I still admire her so much.”
