Bruce Willis spent Christmas surrounded by family and memories of more familiar times for them all. The actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, shared footage of the family’s holiday, revealing the special day to be a very fun-filled one complete with opening presents, smiling, dancing, and even Willis’ most famous Christmas movie, Die Hard.
Back in March 2022, Willis’ family announced that he had a condition called aphasia, which prompted his retirement from acting. A formal diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) was shared in 2023, making this his first Christmas since news of his dementia officially broke.

The accompanying video showed Emma and Bruce’s daughters, Evelyn and Mabel, heading downstairs and diving into the explosion of Christmas that was the family tree and present pile. Festive decorations can be spotted in every frame of the video, even during the brief dance number. Everyone had full stockings, each labeled Dad, Evelyn, Mabel, and Mom.
Striking a balance for Willis
Willis’ family is navigating a fine line when addressing his health struggles and FTD diagnosis. Emma is intent on raising awareness of the struggle both patients and caregivers face while also ensuring Willis and their kids have days filled with happiness. However, some fans feel the family should give Willis total privacy through this difficult time.
This Christmas, Emma has been guided by her philosophy of providing Bruce with as much happiness as possible. Fans flooded the comment section with messages of support, with some even saying “We watched a certain Christmas movie last night and thought of Bruce.” Another said similarly, “Merry Christmas and know that Bruce is on everyone’s TV today.”
Emma confirmed that, on top of the usual festivities, her family was spending their time the same way too. “Us too,” she shared in one of her Stories, featuring a picture from the movie Die Hard playing on the family’s TV.
