Child actor Danny Bonaduce is closing another chapter of his life story. On Monday, Bonaduce announced he would be retiring from radio hosting, after 12 years of morning radio in Seattle. With this career move, he is also relocating to Palm Springs, California.

From 1970 to 1974, Bonaduce was known for playing Danny Partridge in the main cast of The Partridge Family for 96 episodes. It’s a role he would reprise multiple times over the years even as he extended his resume well beyond the serenading sitcom, especially on TV, where his last credits were in 2019. But Bonaduce has faced his share of health scares over the years that may make the quiet life sound appealing. Here’s the latest on his career plans.

Friday will officially be my last day on the radio,” he announced. “Looking forward to retirement in Palm Springs, also keeping a place in our beloved Seattle. Thank you for 12 amazing years on KZOK.” Bonaduce once called himself “the luckiest guy in entertainment” because he “worked in the industry I love for 60 years.”

However, uncontrollable elements have affected the trajectory of his career.

Bonaduce also discussed his impending retirement on Seattle’s Classic Rock Station, taking time to express his gratitude for his career and those who made it all possible. “I want to thank the loyal fans who have followed me throughout my career,” he praised, “including the last 12 based in Seattle. Thank you to iHeartRadio for believing in me, to my on-air partner Sarah for putting up with me. My thanks to Paul Anderson, my agent for decades who has been my steady guide and business partner.”

“And most importantly, to the love of my life, Amy, who is my rock,” he added. “Retirement is just a word, I expect to visit my friends and family at KZOK as I pop back on the air from time to time to say hello. I’ve been in the entertainment industry for six decades and this is the best time I’ve ever had. Thank you all.”

Back in June, Bonaduce was off-air due to a medical condition. He reportedly consulted hundreds of doctors to address a “mystery illness” that was ultimately identified as hydrocephalus in May; hydrocephalus is characterized by a buildup of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles of the brain. Bonaduce underwent surgery to relieve the resulting pressure in June. His wife reported that he had difficulty speaking and moving; a stroke was ruled out by doctors, who theorized this might have been due to the damage his head had taken over the course of his career, especially when wrestling and celebrity boxing.
