In 2012, the actor suffered a stroke, which left him paralyzed, and he had to resort to a wheelchair for mobility. In a 2013 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, one of his representatives disclosed that he was making notable strides in his recovery, indicating positive progress from the major health setback. “He has been going to physical therapy doing very well and still has his great sense of humor,” they told the news outlet. “He thanks everyone for sending good wishes.”
