Why Sylvester Stallone’s Wife Is Glad They Moved Out Of California

After selling their $58 million home to Adele in June 2022, Sylvester Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, moved to the East Coast for a change. Flavin thinks it was the best decision because she needed to live a “totally different lifestyle” from her former one in California, and Florida has given her just that.

Having stayed in California for most of her life, including raising two of kids there, moving was an “incredible” experience for Flavin. “Now everyone’s out, our daughters have moved to the East Coast,” she said, “so there wasn’t really anything left for me in California.”

Flavin considers their move necessary

Aside from a fresh environment, Flavin is making new friends, mainly because old friends have left California as well. “I love it, I’m really happy,” she said. The 55-year-old explained that they didn’t leave the state because of the crime rate. “There’s crime everywhere,” including their current location. “You can find it anywhere you look, even in small towns,” she added.

Flavin considers California to be “probably the most beautiful state in the United States,” however she does not want to spend the rest of her life living in one house. “I absolutely love it, but I just needed a change. I felt like I’ve been there long enough, and life is short, so I wanted to make a change,” she said.

Sylvester agrees with Flavin

Sylvester agrees with his wife of over two decades about their need for a new environment, which in addition benefits him as a creative. “I wasn’t moving because ‘Oh, wow, I wanted another beautiful view,” he said in his Netflix documentary, Sly. “Any time changing that paradigm which you become used to, it’s literally to jump-start that process again.”

Thankfully, the couple has managed to stay and move out of the West Coast together despite a threatened split in August 2022. “Let’s just say that it was a very tumultuous time,” Sylvester said after their reconciliation a month after Flavin filed for divorce. “There was a reawakening of what was more valuable than anything, which is my love for my family. It takes precedence over my work, and that was a hard lesson to learn.”
