It’s been over a month since Matthew Perry’s untimely death, and the actor’s ex-girlfriend Julia Roberts is sharing her thoughts on their relationship and his profound impact on her. The actress joined other celebrities to reflect on the late star’s long-lasting legacy.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Roberts, who had dated the late actor for three months after her guest appearance on the hit NBC sitcom Friends, broke her silence on the sudden passing of the Fools Rush In star.
During the discussion, the actress opened up about her reflections on the unexpected passing of Perry. Roberts expressed that the death of her former flame was both surprising and profoundly distressing, especially considering his relatively young age.
“The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking,” she told the news outlet. “I think that it just helps all of us appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can.”
The 56-year-old was invited to participate in Friends by Perry himself. In his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry revealed that he made all the effort to have her on his show and even went as far as sending three dozen roses with a note about how excited he was about having her on the series.
Julia also told Entertainment Tonight that she had a good time while on the set of Friends. “All good thoughts and feelings,” she explained. “They were all so welcoming to me as just a kind of a one-off character, and it was a really fun time.”
