Cher graced this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade with a stunning rendition of her new Christmas song from her latest Christmas album, “DJ Play A Christmas Song.” Hours after the performance, Cher was seen leaving her hotel room in an all-black outfit and matching boots and finally getting into her vehicle with the help of her bodyguard.
Shortly after, a clip of the singer walking to her car made it to entertainment photographer Elder Ordonez’s Instagram page with the caption, “Cher is seen leaving her Hotel just hours after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City this afternoon.” The snap soon raised concerns among users who thought she looked stressed and could barely walk.

Some fans assumed old age was catching up with the Burlesque actress, hence her unsteady gait in the clip. “How old is she now? She can’t even walk,” someone remarked. Other users believed she was simply tired from the performance and needed to take off her seemingly heavy boots. “Looks like she’s half asleep,” someone quipped.

Some people came to the iconic singer’s defense against age-shaming critics in the comments. “She’s 77 years old!!! Let’s see how great you will be walking at her age, if at all. People need to shut their mouths,” a fan clapped back. “We all get old,” another added with a heart emoji. Amidst the varying opinions on her age, some fans simply praised Cher’s style and talent over the years. “I love Cher. Knew her well back in the day,” a comment read.
Cher’s thoughts on aging
Cher has never avoided the topic of aging, as she insists age is just a number to her. In an interview with Good Morning Britain, the singer spoke about still wearing jeans at 77 and rocking her dark, lush hair regardless of society’s expectations of women her age. “I just can’t believe I will be 80 at some point, sooner than I wish…I will still be doing the same stuff I’ve always done,” she said.
While she makes little to no effort to appear young, Cher credits her good genes for her effortless glow. “I’m not trying to be young— I am who I am. I’m just getting along,” she noted. The Goddess of Pop previously shared some secrets to health in a book she co-authored in the early ’90s. “I quit smoking. I don’t do drugs. I never drink coffee and almost never drink alcohol or eat red meat, so I’m way ahead of the game,” Cher wrote.
