Unlike her usual blonde hair, Meryl Streep showed up at the 2023 Princess of Asturias Award ceremony with her hair all-white. She wore a red-patterned shirt under a black blazer and accessorized with small earrings and thick-framed glasses.

The actress wore her hair down in a side part and opted for a natural makeup look and minimal jewelry. At the event, she received an award for the Arts which she thanked “their Majesties and Her Royal Highness” for in April. “I very much look forward to meeting them in October, and to spending time in their beautiful country,” she added at the time.

Although it is not Meryl’s first rodeo with her silver locks, she seems to be embracing her natural hair color totally, not leaving streaks of golden blonde or brown as usual. She also attended the Sin Guion conference alongside Antonio Banderas, where she presented a Q&A session while wearing pretty much the same look but with a black and white shirt this time.

At the 48th Chaplin Award Gala in April, her hair was a mix of brunette, blonde, and white, which she also wore in a part. Earlier this year, she rocked a ’90s-style low ponytail prepped up with a silver barrette in a photo she shared to celebrate joining the Only Murders in the Building cast.

More celebrities are embracing their white hair

More stars are embracing the aging process and the changes that come with it. Some of the Hollywood gray goddesses include Downtown Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern, as well as Sharon Osbourne, who decided to stop coloring her hair weekly after eighteen years. “She explained to me that she wanted to do this transformation a long time ago, but every time she attempts, it ends up with a disaster,” hair colorist Jack Martin said on Instagram.

Jane Fonda also showed off her graying hair for the first time at the 2020 Academy Awards, styling it in a pixie cut. “She is someone who is very far from being nervous about a hair makeover. She’s the kind of person who is not afraid of change,” Jack said. Dame Judi Dench, Nichelle Nichols, and even the gents like Morgan Freeman and Cheers’  Ted Danson have also joined the train.
