Model Paulina Porizkova had famously been married to musician Ric Ocasek before their equally infamous falling out. Since then, Porizkova had maintained a relatively quiet dating life but she is celebrating a new milestone this year, as she officially announces her relationship with a man named Jeff Greenstein.
58-year-old Porizkova celebrated their relationship in a heartfelt social media post that featured a phot of the joyful couple as well as some wisdom Porizkova had to share that only came to light thanks to her romance with Greenstein. According to her, she learned things about love she’d not realized once in all her 58 years of life.
On October 3, Porizkova took to Instagram to formally share word of her relationship with television writer and producer Greenstein. “It was this woman who met her equal – eight months ago,” she revealed. “He likes to celebrate every moment, so here’s to you my love.”
Porizkova had dropped nuggets of information about their relationship over the past few weeks; Greenstein features in several of her photos, including a set from eight weeks ago in which Porizkova shares how they sometimes dream of meeting much earlier, the better to spend more time together. “But when we unravel these wistful thoughts, we find we met exactly at the right time,” she mused in the captions. “Because time is what has made us perfect for one another right now.”
Porizkova does not regret the time “lost” with regret. Instead, she notes that they hold on tight to one another “not like drowning people – but like two people who can’t believe their luck.” In Porizkova’s view, time was a key ingredient to get them exactly where they needed to be: into each other’s arms as the person each became right now.
The way Porizkova tells it, everything clicked into place with Greenstein, both in terms of romance and in understanding what made that love flourish. “It took me 58 years to understand that what I wanted and needed was not Prince Charming charging into my life on a white steed to rescue me with his love, but an equal,” she shared.
She continued, “And for that, I first had to figure out what I needed. And what I couldn’t do without. This I learned from my previous relationships, so in a way, it wasn’t time wasted even if it felt like it at times.”
Her previous relationship to Ocasek, who died in 2019 at the age of 75, had been famously fraught with road bumps and drama. At one point, he drafted up a new will that disinherited Porizkova as well as his two eldest sons; Ocasek alleged that Porizkova had “abandoned” him after he underwent a then-recent surgery. It was she who found Ocasek dead in his home and when he passed, they had been in the process of divorcing. She has said Ocasek controlled most of his life, yet when her son graduated college, she offered assurances that Ocasek would have been “proud.”
But this, and her brief relationship with Aaron Sorkin, all got her exactly where she needed to be – with Greenstein.
