Car Refuses To Stop For Paul McCartney As He Poses On Abbey Road Crossing

Former Beatles star, Paul McCartney, was recently back to Abbey Road, which was featured on the group’s 1969 album cover, Abbey Road. Like many others, Paul intended to take a picture on the crosswalk but was almost hit by a car. It was somewhat surprising that the motorist would not stop for the iconic singer.

The incident in which a car refused to stop for the legendary singer happened during the filming of a new documentary by Paul’s daughter, Mary.

In a bid to recreate the iconic album cover of the Fab Four’s Abbey Road, Mary got her dad to stand on the zebra crossing, which led to him almost getting knocked down. Thankfully, no harm was done, and Paul left the road laughing. “As we were leaving, I said, ‘I’ll film you,’ and he went over and this car totally didn’t stop for him!” Mary told S magazine.

“The bit where the car nearly ran him over on the zebra crossing, that was so funny,” an amused Mary also said. The X (formerly Twitter) account for Abbey Road Studios posted the moment when Paul tried to walk across the road with the caption, “Close call for @PaulMcCartney on the Abbey Road crossing!”

Fans comment on the near-miss

Fans shared their thoughts on social media, with one noting that Paul “Must be the most chill guy in the world! Most people would be pissed as hell to have an oblivious driver almost hit them while blowing through a crosswalk!”

“Can’t believe someone nearly ran over Macca how could they,” another tweeted. Someone else wondered how the driver did not see Paul, especially because the road was not “long and winding or anything.” Others pointed out that the driver broke the Highway Code by not stopping for a pedestrian on a zebra crossing, regardless of the pedestrian being a celebrity in this case.
