The Elvis Rumor That “Disturbed” Lisa Marie, According To Close Friend

by Peace A

Published August 1, 2023

Elvis Presley’s life was marred by controversies, spanning from his relationships and personal behavior to his dependence on prescription drugs and the mystery surrounding his death. Following the passing of the King of Rock ‘n Roll, numerous conspiracy theories emerged, with some speculating that Elvis had been involved in FBI investigations into the mob, faked his death, and entered witness protection.

Additionally, there were claims from people who claimed they had seen Elvis alive and well in public. Another theory linked to him is the discrepancy in the spelling of his middle name on his gravestone, initially spelled “Aron” but now spelled “Aaron.” However, in a recent interview, Steve Binder, the director of Elvis’ ’68 Comeback Special, discussed his relationship with the Presley family, including Elvis’ daughter, the late Lisa Marie Presley, who reached out to him years later about the speculations surrounding her father’s death.

The embers of the conspiracy theories about Elvis were fanned by Lisa Marie’s response to a question in a 2003 interview with Larry King. During the discussion, King asked her if she ever felt communication with her father and if she experienced channeling as some people claim to feel the presence of their departed parents around them.

Lisa Marie offered a response that gave hints about the topic’s sensitive nature. “I don’t know. We’re getting into a hairy, controversial field here, and I’d rather [not answer the question],” she said.

Elvis Presley’s death was disturbing to Lisa Marie Presley

In an interview with Yahoo!, Binder revealed that the rumors about the possibility of Elvis being alive greatly affected Lisa Marie, who was merely nine years old when her father died. The director further stated that the late “In the Ghetto” crooner’s daughter was so disturbed that she called him up asking about the rumors about her father being alive.

Binder further disclosed that he advised her not to overthink the matter. “Lisa called me up one day and said she was very disturbed with all these rumors going around that Elvis may still be alive,” he explained to the news outlet. “This was when she was still married to Michael Jackson. She wanted to take on the press, but I advised her not to do that. I said, ‘That’s what they want you to do. Just let it happen and it’ll eventually burn out.’ Which it did.”
