Despite Shannen Doherty’s ongoing battle with cancer, the actress is full of life and hasn’t lost her fun-loving character as she recently surprised her Beverly Hills, 90210 costar, Brian Austin Green, on his 50th birthday. Following chemotherapy and a single mastectomy in 2016, she was certified cancer free, however, the actress disclosed in February 2020 that her cancer has re-emerged and has progressed to stage four.
“I want people to not hear stage 4 cancer and think of the person that is gray and falling over, and they can’t move, and they’re going into hospice, and they can’t work,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “You get written off so quickly, even though you’re vital and healthy and happy and wanting to go out there and work.”

Brian Austin Green recently commemorated his 50th birthday on Saturday, July 15th, with a party that had Doherty and some other Beverly Hills, 90210 Costars in attendance. Green shared in an Instagram post that the party was a surprise from his wife. “So, I turned 50 yesterday, and Sharna threw me an amazing surprise party full of great people,” he wrote. “Casamigos set up a bar and had custom BAG drinks for guests. It was amazing. Thanks, @casamigos. George and Rande, you guys really did create some delicious and fun tequila’ :)))”

Doherty, who is a close friend of the celebrant, shared a heartfelt tribute on her Instagram. The actress posted two pictures, the first capturing Doherty relaxing poolside, with her right arm affectionately wrapped around Green’s shoulders while fellow costar Ian Ziering is seen cozily nestled beside her. A second snapshot featured Green’s 21-year-old son, Kassius, posing alongside his dad, Doherty, and a couple of friends, all gathered by the poolside.
“Happy birthday B. I love you @brianaustingreen,” she wrote in the caption, alongside the photographs. Ziering also took to Instagram to share some heartwarming shots from their get-together, and he even posted a delightful video clip that captured the moment when Green was pleasantly surprised as he entered the party.
