Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s youngest daughter, Tallulah Willis, has had a troubled life as she has been grappling with depression since her early years. At the young age of 11, Tallulah initially struggled with her perception of her body, and as time went on, she received diagnoses of ADHD and Borderline Personality Disorder. The 29-year-old had previously revealed in an interview with Vogue in May that her problem began after seeing disparaging remarks about her looks on the internet when she attended an event with her mother.
“I had flown to New York with my mother, Demi Moore, and her partner at the time, Ashton Kutcher, for an event the night before. I had worn a mink Capelet — I felt awfully grown-up and was very pleased with myself—and I wanted to see if my outfit had made the party pages of any of the style websites,” she told the news outlet. “So I opened my laptop and went to the usual places (this was the heyday of Perez Hilton; celebrity kids were fair game), and there I was in my tweenage awkwardness, standing beside my famously beautiful mom. Then I found my way to the comments, hundreds of them, the words just burning off the screen.”
Tallulah shared in a 2015 interview with Teen Vogue that the hateful comments she got regarding her appearance led to her having a profound breakdown at the age of 13. She further stated that her perception of herself became so skewered that she considered seeking medical help.
“I thought, ‘I am a hideous, disgusting-looking person. I might be nice, and I might be kind, but I’m a really unattractive human being.’ I became my own worst critic,” Tallulah confessed. “I went into inpatient treatment for 45 days … I can say that I’m getting to that place where I’m starting to feel OK with myself, bit by bit.”
The fashion designer has since been seeking medical help to combat her ailment. Tallulah revealed to Vogue that when she was 25 years old, she checked into a treatment facility in Malibu, California, where she was eventually diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Tallulah explained that after her diagnosis, she was placed on medications leading to a huge weight loss that got people around her concerned. “There’s an unhealthy deliciousness at the beginning of losing weight rapidly. People are like, ‘Oh wow!'” Tallulah confessed. “And then quickly it turns to, ‘Are you okay?’ My friends and family were terrified.”
She also disclosed that she had been recently diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder at the time she was admitted at Driftwood Recovery in Texas in 2022. “I was introduced to a variety of therapies, my medication was retooled, and I was given a new diagnosis,” she said. “By the time I left Texas in October, I felt a lot better.”
