Early last year, Demi Moore unveiled deeply personal details in her bestselling memoir, Inside Out, in which she shed light on the years during which she grappled with addiction and various challenges, resulting in a prolonged period of estrangement from her three daughters.
Recently, the youngest of her three daughters, Tallulah Willis, took a unique approach in her Mother’s Day tribute to her mom, Demi Moore. The 26-year-old, who is the youngest among Demi’s three daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis, took to Instagram to share her perspective on the difficult time of separation from her mother and the subsequent journey of reconciliation and healing.
Tahullah revealed in the Instagram post that she had once been estranged from her mom. “Channeling love and strength to every mother to be, tired mamas, stepmoms, and mamas who’ve lost something precious,” she captioned a picture featuring herself and her mother. “I’m sending it to anyone who struggles to celebrate a day when it reminds them of a loss. I didn’t talk to my mom for almost 3 years, and during that shattered time this day would transport me from fragmented pieces to absolute dust.”
“However, my story changed. Through a metamorphosis of inward self-reflection and malleability to forgive, 3 years did not stretch to forever,” Tahullah explained further. “I am magnetically transfixed by my mother; if you know me personally, you know the magnitude of her presence in my life.” While acknowledging the complexities of their past relationship, the mother and daughter have evidently grown closer than ever before as they both spent time together with their family in recent times.
Tallulah revealed that she believes she and Demi would have forged a strong friendship if they met when her mom was the same age as she is currently. “What kind of connection could be formed were I to meet the 26-year-old Demi,” she wrote. “I think we’d have a lot of laughter […] I revel in all that you are, @demimoore, and all that you continue to teach me. I witness what this day means for you and where you came from.”
“The here and now is a day that started with a running hug to my maternal deity and a sloppy cheek kiss. I revel in all that you are and all that you continue to teach me,” she concluded. “I witness what this day means for you, and where you came from. Every nook and cranny of you is worthy and gilded.”
