The extended Presley family has just exited a lengthy legal battle that has at least one more step to get through. Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley and Lisa Marie Presley, died suddenly on January 12. Her own daughter, Riley Keough, is filing to be officially named the sole trustee in Lisa Marie’s will.
Recently, Lisa Marie’s will was the subject of a legal debate in which Priscilla contested an amendment that removed herself and Lisa Marie’s business partner Barry Siegel. Legal proceedings concluded apparently amicably, but now Riley has to solidify the decision, based on documents obtained earlier this week.

Entertainment Tonight obtained court documents filed in Los Angeles on Monday, in which Riley petitions the court to approve the settlement agreement reached between her and Priscilla, as well as Michael Lockwood, who is Lisa Marie’s ex and the guardian ad litem for twins Harper and Finley.

One of the biggest distinctions between Riley and Priscilla becoming sole trustee comes from the charges the position would bring. Riley’s lawyer, Justin Gold, says that if the court approves the request, Riley will not charge for her service as trustee. As a result, says Gold, “the beneficiaries all save money that would have gone to Priscilla who was going to charge a trustee fee.”
Tying loose ends to smooth things over longterm
“In settling the claims pending in Priscilla’s Petition, the parties are saving significant legal fees by avoiding litigation,” says Gold in the documents, “and they are likewise avoiding the spectacle of intra-family litigation that would have been inimical to Lisa’s wishes and not in the best interests of the family.”
Stories surrounding the legal battle between members of the Presley-Keough family painted a tense picture, with some outlets reporting that Riley changed the locks at Graceland to keep Priscilla out; Graceland personnel noted that this did not happen. Priscilla also asked outsiders to not draw conclusions regarding the relations and sentiments between her family members based on reporting, claiming that things were far less tense than outlets were indicating and that the “Presley family is stronger than ever.”
