Recently, it was announced that Tina Turner died at her home after battling serious health challenges. A lot of fans and fellow celebrities took to social media to pay their tributes to the late rock-n-roll queen while celebrating her life with memories of her.
Following the news of Tina Turner’s death at the age of 83, videos showcasing the life and times of the music icon have been trending online. One of the videos includes Tina’s performance with the Burlesque actress Cher.
Tina was a guest on a 1975 episode of CBS’s The Cher Show, where she delivered an incredible performance of the song “Shame, Shame, Shame.” A fan posted a video of the performance on Twitter with the caption, “Please stop what you’re doing and watch Tina Turner and Cher duetting in the campest way imaginable.”
The video featured both legendary singers in shimmering pink and blue dresses with matching backgrounds while they bounced around singing on stage. It was not long until the video went viral, and fans took the comments to express their nostalgia.
“This really is one of my favorite performances,” someone commented. Others pointed out how energetic Tina was, with Cher also trying to keep up. “This just made me realize how much endurance she had omg cause Cher was TIRED,” someone added.
Cher was the first to comment after Tina’s death, as both women have been good friends for years. Cher recalled when Tina’s illness started in an interview with MSNBC, explaining how she became more intentional about their friendship during that time.
“I started going to visit her because I thought, ‘I need to put this time into our friendship so she knows we haven’t forgotten her.’ So we all took turns going and spending time with her, and it made her happy,” Cher told the outlet.
“She fought this sickness for such a long time, and she was so strong as you think she would be, but I know towards the end, she told me once, she said, ‘I’m really ready. I just don’t want to put up with this anymore,’” she added.
