In the months following the unexpected death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, Riley Keough has become very distraught. Rather than having the space to mourn her mother’s passing, the star has been pulled into the middle of a contentious legal battle over Lisa Marie’s estate. This has created a great deal of tension between Riley, Lisa Marie’s ex-husband Michael Lockwood, and Riley’s grandmother, Priscilla Presley.
An insider revealed to Entertainment Tonight that the actress is uncomfortable with how things are going. The source explained that “the family drama is the last thing Riley wants to be dealing with” and that she’s “deeply upset at how things are unfolding. She hopes to still be a huge part of Harper and Finley’s lives.” Also, another person close to the family claims that “Riley is hopeful everything in her family will work out.”
Riley Keough is not happy that Micheal Lockwood is filing to get custody of her sisters, Harper and Finley
In a recent legal document, Michael Lockwood expressed his desire to be officially appointed as the guardian of the twins, Harper and Finely. Shortly after Lockwood made his request, the late Lisa Marie’s lawyer, Gary Fishbein, attended a virtual custody hearing before Judge Joseph Lipner. Fishbein argued that the custody case should be dismissed as there were no other pending matters related to the case and because Lisa Marie, his client, had passed away on January 12.

During the custody hearing, Fishbein informed Judge Lipner that the late actress’s marriage status had been dissolved and that the child support order for Harper and Finley still stands. The Lawyer also added that custody of the twins would be granted to Lockwood unless another family member disputes the arrangement in court. However, the judge has not yet officially granted the request for dismissal.
The 33-year-old is having a blossoming career despite the legal battles
Despite facing personal challenges, Riley’s career is flourishing with great success. Her latest starring role in Daisy Jones & The Six has garnered significant recognition, particularly as the series prepares to air its finale on Friday, March 23.
Also, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Riley is immensely proud of her Prime Video series, and the positive reception. “It has brought a lot of joy to her life during a very hard time. She is extremely happy it had a great audience reaction and loves that many connected with the series,” the source told the outlet. “This project was very special to her because it reminded her a lot of her family ties to the music industry and was an ode to her grandfather, Elvis, in many ways. Riley felt deeply connected to the project and it was an exciting time seeing it come to life.”
The source concluded that the 33-year-old is currently invested in her work and family. “She is focused on her family and work right now. It has been a very hard year for Riley with her mother’s death and raising a baby girl while working. Her husband has been the biggest support system and Riley owes the world to him.”
