Matthew McConaughey’s Son Shows Off Surfing Injury ‘Souvenirs’ In Close-Up Photos

Matthew McConaughey welcomed his first child and son, Levi, in July 2008 with his wife, Camila. The 14-year-old has been one of multiple talents and passions since he was a child. In an interview on Good Morning America in 2009, Matthew mentioned that he and baby Levi got along really well and that they have their own jokes as father and son that “he (Levi)  and his mother don’t have.”

Matthew also revealed to PEOPLE in 2020 that Levi has had a passion for music since he was a baby. “Basically he came out of the womb knowing a minor from major key on the piano,” he said. Over the years, Levi has picked up surfing— something he enjoys with his celebrity dad. Matthew recently shared photos of his teenage son showing scars he got from surfing on social media.

Surfing Souvenirs

In one of the latest photos on Matthew’s Instagram page, Levi is seen holding his neon-green surfboard, with his back covered in bandages and minor scar injuries from surfing. The actor captioned the photo of his son, “surf souvenirs”, and many fans, likely surfing lovers too, took to the comments to affirm the phrase. “We call ’em nature’s tattoo brotha. This is awesome,” one commenter wrote.

“Meet new people and experience new things! Even the hard stuff can be the good stuff,” another person wrote, praising Levi for his adventurous nature.

Matthew McConaughey is a proud father

Aside from Levi, Matthew shares two more children with Camila— Vida and Livingston. Levi became a big brother for the first time in January 2010, when his parents welcomed little sister Vida. “Here’s a pic of our latest family member Vida Alves McConaughey,” Matthew wrote on his website, alongside a photo of himself and Camila with their newborn. “Thanks for all your well wishes our way, the future’s lookin’ bright, just keep livin’, Matthew and Camila,” he added.

While Levi loves adventures, Vida has taken an interest in acting, appearing in her father’s movie, Sing 2, for a minor role. The proud father also mentioned in an interview with PEOPLE that Vida “likes to paint and draw and loves graphic novels.”

Levi is also a big brother to Livingston, Matthew’s last child, who Camila admitted was a handful compared to Levi and Vida on a YouTube series, Mom2Mom. Matthew once shared a photo of himself bonding with his sons; he gave Livingston a haircut while Levi stayed near to watch with their dog.
