Jamie Lee Curtis started her acting career in the ‘70s, playing the role of Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s horror film Halloween released in 1978. Curtis has always been surrounded by Hollywood actors and stars from birth, being born to actor parents Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis in 1958. It is no surprise that Curtis is quite a natural when it comes to horror movies, earning her the reputation as a scream queen.
Curtis’ diligence and consistency have earned her many recognition and awards in Hollywood like a BAFTA award, two Golden Globe wins among several nominations, a Grammy nomination, and many more. One of her most recent awards was a Screen Actor’s Guild award in February 2023. However, to celebrate the actress, a group of rescue dogs was dressed up as different characters from her movies.
Paw Works celebrates Curtis’ SAG award win
The 64-year-old Curtis won the award for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once which premiered in the US in March 2022. To celebrate her win, a group of adorable dogs celebrates her by wearing outfits inspired by Curtis’ most iconic characters.
A no-kill nonprofit animal rescue in South California, named Paw Works brought some of their pups together for this thoughtful tribute. The rescue, which was established in 2014 has saved over 12,500 abandoned dogs so far.
Curtis worked with Paw Works at the Oscars
Also, Curtis worked with Paw Works to honor the late Betty White— who was an animal lover— at the 2022 Oscars. They highlighted and paid tribute to Betty for her dedication to animal welfare during the In Memoriam segment of the award show. Curtis brought out a Chihuahua mix named Mac & Cheese for adoption.
The cute furry pup was eventually adopted by John Travolta and is now great buddies with the star’s son too. Law Works dressed up these pups, and shared a photo on Instagram to celebrate Curtis’ award win, with the caption: “We want to extend a huge congratulations to our friend Jamie Lee Curtis for her SAG wins this past weekend! To show our admiration and appreciation for you and your work, some of our rescues (with the help of their humans ) have replicated some of your memorable personas!”
The pups depicted characters from movies like the award-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once, Christmas with the Kranks, A Fish Called Wanda, Halloween, Knives Out, Trading Places, and True Lies.
