Despite the huge age difference between them, Sajak was 42 while Lesly was 23, the lovers did not waste time taking their relationship to the next level. Also, the 76-year-old revealed in an interview with People that the connection between him and Lesly was so strong. “It is frightening,” Sajak told the outlet. “We are already doing the thing where you start a sentence, and the other person finishes it for you.”
However, they got married in 1989, just a year after they met in an old-fashioned wedding ceremony that was held at a church in Annapolis, Maryland. The couple had a short honeymoon in the Caribbean because Sajak had to return to work.

[My wife] Lesly and I couldn’t be prouder. I tried to get [Patrick] into geriatrics, but he refused. But that’s a personal thing.”

“In the background [at the hospital], I could hear my wife and daughter talking,” Sajak told the outlet. “It sounded like they were a mile off, but they were right next to me! They were talking to each other. And I remember thinking, not in a morbid way, ‘I think this must be death. This must be what death is like.’ Hearing their voices, I thought, ‘Boy, their lives are gonna change now.’ And I felt badly for them. I didn’t feel badly about dying. I felt badly that they were gonna have to deal with the aftermath. As it turned out, I was just high.”
