Parenting could be quite tricky, especially for working fathers who find it difficult to squeeze time out of their busy schedules to be with their children. The reverse is the case for Michael J. Fox, who finds fatherhood highly rewarding. Michael met his lovely wife, Tracy Pollan, on the set of the ’80s sitcom Family Ties when she starred as his girlfriend, Ellen Reed, in the series between 1985 and 1987.
The lovers tied the knot during the production of the 1988 movie Bright Lights, Big City, and they have been married for 34 years. They share four children: Sam, their twin daughters Aquinnah and Schuyler, and their youngest daughter, Esme. However, shortly after the birth of his first child, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Michael enjoyed family support during this period, and this aided in his rehabilitation. After making some recovery, the 61-year-old decided to expand his family despite his health challenge.
Michael and Tracy decided to have more children
In an interview with Good Housekeeping in 2009, Michael discussed the reasons behind their decision. “We had talked about having more kids, and for a while there, every time I brought it up, she changed the subject,” Michael revealed. “I’d gone through all this stuff and really changed the way I looked at things, the way I looked at life. And then one day we were watching Sam run through the bushes with one of his cousins, and Tracy turned to me and said, ‘He’d be a great brother.’”

Sooner than later, the couple worked towards providing a playmate for their son. Tracy’s pregnancy scan revealed that it was twins, and Michael was overly joyous at the news of having two children at once, which he called a “Double Blessing.” Tracy gave birth to her twin daughters in 1995.
Aquinnah and Schuyler Fox
Aquinnah and Schuyler grew up around their lovely parents and siblings. The twins share a strong bond and have lived their life as near-replicas of each other. They both have a degree in Psychology, even though they graduated from different colleges.
Both ladies have lived highly successful lives. They had previously been a part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, a charity organization their father pioneered. After some time, however, the sisters left to focus on their careers.
Michael’s daughters chase different dreams
Since their exit from the foundation, Aquinnah has worked with quite a number of multinationals, including Samsung and Ogilvy. She currently works at Annapurna Pictures as an assistant. While Schuyler has also landed several high-profile jobs, including Manager, Creative Content and Education at Hellosaurus, before moving to Fable Vision, where she is currently employed as an Associate Producer.
Interestingly, despite their busy schedules, Aquinnah and Schuyler always clear their calendar to visit and spend time with their loving parents. This has also positively affected Michael’s health as he enjoys the warm comfort of his daughters.
