Despite living a short life, Judy Garland spent quality time with her children (Liza Minnelli, Lorna Luft, and Joey Luft). Although it’s been more than five decades since the death of the Wizard of Oz icon, her three kids still sing her praises and cherish the moments they had with her.
Recently, in an interview with Closer Weekly, Lorna Luft revealed that despite her mother’s tumultuous path, she still spread the love. “Yes, she had tragedies in her life, but she wasn’t tragic.” Also, Joey claims that his childhood was filled with pleasant memories he had with his mother, “I remember having a lot of fun with her when we were alone.”

Garland’s eldest child, Liza Minnelli, has come out to demystify the rumors that trailed her mother’s parenting style. She revealed that her mother was “protective and very strict,” and she balanced it with a blend of being “very funny” and “incredibly intelligent.”

“One of the biggest misconceptions about my mama was that she didn’t provide me with a happy childhood,” the 75-year-old explained to the outlet. “There were highs and lows, for sure, but I can say I was very happy.”
Also, Minnelli talks about how she enjoyed Garland’s support at a period in her life when she was at the lowest. “My fondest memory of my mama was the conversations we had,” Minnelli reflected. “As a teenager, I became her best friend and confidante. We would laugh and talk for hours.”
The Sterile Cuckoo star further revealed that she still feels her mother’s presence to date and connects with her to the extent that when she needs her, she doesn’t hesitate to beckon on her. “When I call on her, she’s there,” said the star. “And I call on her a lot.”
Garland’s children celebrated her 100th birthday posthumously
To celebrate her 100th posthumous birthday, her children decided to start a perfume line inspired by her life. They worked alongside perfume maker Vicenzo Spinnato to produce Judy – A Garland Fragrance.
Prior to the perfume’s launch date, Liza told People, “Sometimes I feel like she continues to watch over and guide us. And she must have channeled her thoughts to Vince as well, as he created the right fragrance for her. It is wonderful to celebrate our mother’s legacy in this special way. She would have been thrilled.”
