Some Say Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Seeing Record Low Crowds

by Lauren Novak

Low crowds at Magic Kingdom right now

It has been a big year for Disney World. After years of closures and changes due to the coronavirus pandemic, Disney World is now somewhat back to normal. While it was very busy this summer, reportedly the crowds are going way down right now.

The last few days, tourists are posting pictures of Disney World and it looks like a ghost town. Normally, the wait lines are long and the crowds are hard to get through. Doesn’t seem like that right now though!

Perhaps it is because many kids are already back in school or starting soon. Towards the end of summer and the beginning of school, amusement parks generally see lower crowds. However, there could be another explanation.

Many Disney fans are complaining about the new system Genie+ which released Fast Pass. This adds at least $15, if not more if you want to pay extra to get on certain rides faster, to the already high Disney prices. Some families simply can’t afford to go anymore.

People have also been posting the current wait times which also point to very low crowds. This week, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which is one of the newer and more popular rides, only had a 20-minute wait. Even Disney’s Hollywood Studios Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance only had about an hour wait, which seems long, but the ride has historically had some of the longest waits in the parks. See the photos of the low crowds here.

Have you been to Disney World this year?
