Bruce Willis and Emma Heming have been married since 2009 and have two daughters together. Bruce was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which impacts his cognitive abilities. Due to his diagnosis, he had to retire from acting. Now, Emma is opening up about the grief she has felt since his unsettling diagnosis.
On National Grief Awareness Day, Emma shared a video montage of some of the activities she’s been doing this summer. She captioned the post, “This was the summer of self discovery—finding new hobbies, going out of my comfort zone and staying active. My grief can be paralyzing but I’m learning how to live along side it.”
She continued, “As my step-daughter @scoutlaruewillis told me, grief is the deepest and purest form of love. I hope you find some comfort in that too 💞 #nationalgriefawarenessday #griefawareness #liveitup”
Bruce has been working a lot lately prior to the announcement of his diagnosis and retirement. Now, his final film called Paradise City is in post-production. To let fans know of his retirement, Emma along with Bruce’s ex-wife Demi Moore and daughters shared a statement online.
They wrote, “Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.”
