There is a new documentary about what really happened to fitness icon Richard Simmons. It has been over eight years since Richard has been seen in public and it has led many fans to wonder what is going on with him. After 50 years in the spotlight, he suddenly stopped teaching at his workout studio in 2014.
During the pandemic, Richard suddenly reappeared and uploaded some old content on his YouTube channel to help people stay active during this time, but then disappeared once again. In the documentary, some celebrities shared their take on his disappearance.
Suzanne Somers recalls how he seemed very insecure before he stepped away from the spotlight. She explained, “One night I was on the Larry King Show and he was either going to be a guest or supposed to be a guest. And I heard through the Larry King people that he didn’t want to be on the show with me.”
She asked him why he didn’t want to appear with her and he said he thought she would make fun of him. Suzanne added, “And that’s not my style, I never make fun of anybody. But that’s when I realized a little insecurity has gotten in there.”
The last public statement Richard made was back in 2016 when he admitted he wanted to be “a little bit of a loner” for a while. Other reports say that he goes out shopping and to the beach but no one has gotten any photos of him in recent years.
