On January 9, Bob Saget suddenly passed away, and since then his death has been mourned by his former Full House colleagues, including John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, and Jodie Sweetin. On the one-year anniversary of Saget’s death, Bure shared a throwback photo of them from years ago along with an update on the grieving process.

With his career kicking off in ’77, Saget was known for his time on Full House and as host of America’s Funniest Home Videos. He is survived by three daughters with his first wife Sherri Kramer, and by his second wife Kelly Rizzo, who he married in 2018. Many of his Full House colleagues regarded him as family too, making his loss especially painful. Here is how Bure’s grief has evolved a year later.

On January 9, Bure took to Instagram to mourn Bob Saget’s passing, which occurred a year ago due to head trauma; authorities believe he accidentally hit the back of his head, did not think it was bad enough to warrant a follow-up, and went to sleep. Bure is in a somewhat different emotional place now than she was last year. “I stayed up for hours watching videos of Bob on my phone,” she shared.

Contrast that to last year. Bure continued, “Videos I couldn’t watch a year ago because it hurt too much. Last night they made me laugh. They comforted me and warmed my heart. I watched them over and over and laughed so hard.” This activity isn’t totally without pain, though, as she adds, “I miss him so much and I’m grateful he was my friend for so many years. I love you, Bob *now go hug a friend like Bob would.”

Stamos is definitely ready to hug as Saget would. In his own tribute post, Stamos vowed, “It’s hard sometimes Bob without you, but we’ll try,” adding, “We’ll keep loving and will keep hugging just like you want us to. I can’t believe it’s been a year, time flies when you’re grieving I guess.” His words are reinforced by the accompanying video, footage from between takes filming Full House, complete with the assurance, “What you see up here is really how it is.”

In her own tribute post, widow Kelly Rizzo speaks of empty hearts. “But there is one thing I carry with me every single day that makes this survivable,” Rizzo notes. “I AM THE LUCKIEST. I am the luckiest that I got to be his wife. I am the luckiest that I got to live with his warmth, and laughter, and brilliance, and love.” Reminders like that help those who loved and lost.
